Background

The last few years have seen an increase in the general feeling that hydropower development has reached its plateau. However, reality greatly differs from this picture. Hydropower producers and developers have long been facing many barriers to development of hydropower, some of which include often long and complex administrative procedures, inadequate rates of return derived from an often noteworthy investment cost and, most importantly, problems with conformity to high environmental norms.
 

It is because of this reason and given the lack of current and adequate data on the field, that the Small Hydropower sector has been unable to draw a clearly defined roadmap to future development of hydropower. Stream Map is therefore designed to tackle these problems and present the first realistic roadmap to development of the Small Hydropower sector.
