Stream Map Outcomes
The HYDI Database
Since the beginning of the project, partners have been collecting energy, market and policy data on both large and small hydropower in the EU-27 which have now been fed into the database. A wide range of key stakeholders in each member state were identified and contacted in order to fill in all the data needed. You can find the definitions for each of the variables used in the methodological notes, and all the data covered in the questionnaires that form the basis for the HYDI database:
Media Campaign
In raising awareness on the current status of hydropower and about the Stream Map, project partners have worked intensively in order to produce quality articles which have been published in main international and national newspapers and magazines (eg. Europolitics, Hydropower and Dams, Bloomberg New Energy Finance etc).
Please see our Press Corner for our list of publications to date.
In addition, ESHA has produced an Awareness Raising Document which provides an overview of the current status of the Small Hydropower sector in the 27 EU Member States identifying barriers and giving recommendations for the future.
Hidroenergia 2010
The Stream Map project was presented at the Hidroenergia 2010 Conference, a key event of the small hydropower sector, which took place on 16-19 June 2010 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Stream Map activities were also promoted at ESHA's stand where Stream Map project posters were the main focus of display and by distribution of leaflets.

The Next Steps
Following the launch of the HYDI database to the public, a first draft of the 'Stream Map' roadmap for the SHP sector will be drafted based on the analyses on data collected. Afterwards, a series of validation workshops will take place to cover each member state.
The second round of data collection will also begin during spring 2011. The end of the project will be marked by the publication of the first comprehensive roadmap of the Small Hydropower sector in the EU.
A CD-Rom with complete hydro statistics will be produced upon completion of the project. The CD-Rom will be available with request from ESHA.
The current findings and latest news from the sector will be presented at HYDRO11 Conference in October 2011 in Prague.
